The competition is an exercise in land use planning. Teams of five university students pursuing degrees in at least two different disciplines will have two weeks to devise a development program for a real-life, large-scale site in a North American city. Teams provide graphic boards and narratives of their proposals including designs and market-feasible financial data.

The event is for graduate students and undergraduate students in the final year of their program.

All participating finalist students can attend the all-expenses-paid final presentation in the host city – this year, Cleveland – where the jury selects the winning project.

Registrations close Nov. 20 and the two-week competition begins on Jan. 6.

Winners can earn up to $35,000 as a team.
