Modular construction market on the rise
A new research paper from Research and Markets reveals that the global modular construction market was estimated at US$108.59 billion in 2020 and is expected to reach US$116.02 billion in 2021. Longer term, the market is expected to grow at a compound annual rate of 7.17 per cent from 2020 to 2026 to reach US$164.61 billion by 2026. The projections come from a June 2021 market report.

OGCA to hold vaccination policy session July 5
The Ontario General Contractors Association will be holding a Vaccine Policy Q&A Session with construction lawyer Norm Keith of KPMG Law on July 5 from 10 to 11 a.m. Working with Keith, the OGCA has developed two sets of vaccination policies and draft internal communications encouraging vaccination.

ATCO closes on purchase ofÌýPioneer Pipeline
TransAlta CorporationÌýandÌýits partner Tidewater Midstream & Infrastructure Ltd. todayÌýannounced the closing of the previously announced sale of the Pioneer Pipeline to ATCO Gas and Pipelines for the aggregate sale price of $255 million. The net proceeds to TransAlta from the sale are approximately $127.5 million, subject to adjustments.ÌýTheÌýPioneer Pipeline will be integrated intoÌýtheÌýNOVA Gas Transmission and ATCO’s Alberta natural gas transmission systems.

Governments support HalifaxÌýDES
The federal government todayÌýannounced funding for an ambient temperature district energy system (DES) in the Cogswell District of downtown Halifax. The project, which is part of the Cogswell Redevelopment area, willÌýsupplyÌýrenewable energy from the nearby Halifax Wastewater Treatment Facility’s wastewater effluent to six mixed-use buildings within the district. TheÌýGovernment of Canada isÌýallocatingÌý$5.5 millionÌýtoÌýtheÌýproject, theÌýGovernmentÌýof Nova Scotia is contributing $4.6 millionÌýandÌýthe Halifax Regional Water Commission is contributing $3.7 million.ÌýÌý
