Wolseley announces Indigenous Bursary
Wolseley Canada announced today the inauguration of the Wolseley Canada Indigenous Bursary to provide funding for Indigenous students to obtain post-secondary education. In partnership with Indspire, Wolseley has donated $25,000, which will be matched by the Government of Canada for a total of $50,000.
Trimble software selected by Toronto Water
California-based Trimble has announced that Toronto Water has selected Trimble’s Unity software platform to support its operations. The software uses Esri Geographic Information System technology to automate asset and infrastructure management workflows, improve data accuracy and streamline processes between field and office teams. Trimble was selected following an RFP process launched last year.
OGCA meets in Quebec City
Today is day one of the Ontario General Contractors Association’s three-day annual meeting, being held in Quebec City. The AGM is on Saturday, with business sessions from Thursday through Saturday. The event is in-person with no live streaming.
BDC reports on labour shortage
A new report from the Business Development Bank of Canada found that 55 per cent of Canadian business operators are struggling to hire the workers they need, leaving them working longer hours and delaying or refusing new orders, according to the study. The bank reports that 64 per cent of entrepreneurs say the labour shortage limits their growth; 49 per cent have had to increase wages and benefits; and 44 per cent have delayed or are unable to deliver orders to clients.
