MISSISSAUGA — The Ministry ofÌýLabour, Training and Skills DevelopmentÌýhas provided additional details in the case of aÌýÂá´Ç²ú²õ¾±³Ù±ðÌýfatality that occurredÌýin MississaugaÌýonÌýJan. 21.Ìý
AÌýconstruction worker wasÌýkilledÌýin the late afternoon that dayÌýwhile working on a Region of Peel sanitary sewer and watermain project.Ìý
TheÌýworker, a man in his 30s, was killed while working inÌýthe shaft of a tunnel. The employer of the worker isÌýTechnicoreÌýUnderground Inc.
TheÌýworksiteÌýisÌýat Cawthra Road and Hyacinthe Boulevard in Mississauga. The worker was pronounced dead after being extractedÌýfrom the tunnel.
The Region of Peel website notes there is underground work being undertaken at the intersection as part of a sanitary sewer and watermain project. A temporary construction shaft was installed with six weeks of work scheduled to commence Jan. 4. A spokesperson for theÌýregion confirmed the deathÌýoccurred on that job.ÌýÌý
Three other workers were able to exit the site with no injuries,ÌýaÌýPeel police report indicated. 
Two ministry inspectors were called to the scene and one requirement was issued to the employer. The investigation continues.
Technicore did not respond to a request for a comment.
It was the second industrial fatalityÌýin the Toronto areaÌýlast week. On Jan. 19 a man was struck by a dump truck at Millwick Triple Waste Management in North York, Ont.
