Ontario ups support for Hamilton LRT
The Ontario government today announced it will increase its financial commitment to the Hamilton LRT project from $1 billion to $1.7 billion, matching the pledge made earlier this week by the federal government. The combined funding of $3.4 billion will support construction of a 14-kilometre line from Eastgate Square through downtown Hamilton to McMaster University.Look for more coverage soon in the Daily Commercial News.

Apprenticeship Forum issuesRed Sealtargets
The Canadian Apprenticeship Forum says in a new report that over the five-year period from 2021 to 2025, an estimated 163,785 new journeypersons will be required to sustain workforce certification levels across 56 Red Seal trades in Canada. Canada will need a total of 375,026 apprentices to meet the anticipated demand. The registration target in Ontario is 148,988 and in Quebec it’s 21,254.
