New truck and construction training school opens in Sudbury

SUDBURY, ONT.Northern 鶹ýion Academy (NCA),northern Ontario’s newest construction and transportation training institution, recently opened its doorsand isoffering hands-on heavy equipment and transport truck trainingto increase the number of skilled tradespeople needed to keep up with demand.

The private career college’s programs include AZ/DZtrucktraining andheavyequipmentoperator, an eight-week programthattrains students on the basic operations of bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, graders, loaders and haul trucks. The next scheduled start date is June 7. 

The next AZ and DZtrucktraining programs are scheduled to begin on April 19.

Through the relationships built with the team at Pioneer 鶹ýion and Fisher Wavy, NCA was foundedbased onthe need for skilled tradespeople in the mining and construction industries acrossnorthern Ontario, indicates a release.

“Over the past several years, organizationsin the construction, mining and transportation industries are experiencing an increasing gap in the supply of skilled tradespeople required for these industries to keep up with demand,” said MalcolmCroskery, COO of Pioneer 鶹ýion Inc., in a statement.

“鶹ýion, mining, and transportation are all consideredessential servicesand provide long-term full-time career opportunities to individuals who pursue these career paths. We want to make training for these types of positions available and accessible for all, so we joined forces with the team at Northern 鶹ýion Academy.”
