Skills Ontario aims for Guinness record with screwdriver relay

TORONTO—Skills Ontario is inviting Ontarians to participate in an attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the largest online video chain of people passing and using a Screwdriver.

The record attempt is open to anyone across the province, with a minimum goal of receiving 251 video submissions, stated a May 5 release.

All information, including submission guidelines and an educational package, is available at . Ontarians can send in their videos through a link at the site as well.

The event launched May 5 and Ontarians have until May 26 to send in their videos. While the initiative has a focus on women in the skilled trades as part of Skills Ontario’s efforts to promote diversity and inclusivity, explained Skills Ontario CEO Ian Howcroft, it is open to all to participate.

“As Skills Ontario is dedicated to increasing awareness in skilled trades and technologies, we’re very excited to invite Ontarians to make history with us through this event,” stated Howcroft in a statement. “We’re aiming to bring attention to these amazing careers through this new initiative. There is a growing demand for skilled professionals, and we work every day to address that gap.”
