On this episode of The Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇåion Record Podcast, we speak with Steve Dell’Orto, the founder and CEO of ConCntric, a digital pre-construction platform. Steve is a 26-year veteran of the construction industry and he talked with digital media editor Warren Frey about using that experience to bring together stakeholders during the pre-construction phase of projects via digital technology as well as looking at how a consolidated platform pushes new efficiencies in a segment of the construction industry that has traditionally lagged in terms of collaboration.
Warren also spoke to Mymoon Bhuiyan, the vice-president of EngiQueers Canada, about how that organization is helping 2SLGBTQIA+ students, and others from the queer community, involved in engineering with networking, advocacy and meeting others in their discipline who share their perspective. Bhuiyan also spoke to how older members of the queer community involved in engineering help disseminate their experiences to those just starting in the industry.
We also have the latest news headlines from the Daily Commercial News and the Journal of Commerce including Toronto’s new mayor, a new licensing and certification regime for asbestos abatement work in British Columbia, and one of our Apprenticeship and Skills Training Feature stories where we take a look at how Helmets to Hardhats Canada and NGO Aman Lara is helping Afghan nationals newly arrived in Canada to get training and equipment that points the way to a career in the trades.
You can listen to The Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇåion Record on the Daily Commercial News and Journal of Commerce websites as well as on ,ÌýÌý²¹²Ô»åÌý podcast section. Our previous episode featuring interviews from the recent American Institute of Architects conference in San Francisco here. Thanks for listening.
