VANCOUVER – The British Columbia 鶹ýion Association (BCCA) and Vancouver Regional 鶹ýion Association (VRCA) are joining forces to host a new webinar focused on the BCCA’s Project Closeout guide on Sept. 19.
The guide was developed by a taskforce of volunteer industry experts, a release promoting the event said, and “is a comprehensive and in-depth tool that includes practical checklists and recommendations.”
The session will include new activities detailed in the guide not discussed in a previous April 2023 session as well as project management best practices to facilitate closing stages of a construction contract and closeout of a project as well as a discussion of subcontractors and suppliers’ rights to progressive release of their holdback.
The session will also cover compliance with the BC Builders Lien Act and the Ready-for-Takeover milestone introduced in the recently updated CCDC 2-2020 and CCA 1-2021 documents. An update on prompt payment legislation advocacy efforts and how those possible changes could affect project closeout will also be featured.
Speakers for the event include Terry Brown from STBR Consulting, Houle Electric chief estimator Randy Noble, Kinetic 鶹ýion project manager Eric Lindokken, Sportschuetz & Company founder and construction lawyer Tim Sportschuetz and BCCA industry standard practices consultant Katy Fairley.
