EDMONTON, ALTA.—Alberta officials are hitting the road to promote Alberta’s energy sector.

Premier Jason Kenney and Energy Minister Sonya Savage will attend the CERAWeek conference to secure markets for energy products and attract investment.

CERAWeek is one of the largest energy events of the year and attracts top U.S. decision-makers, heads of international energy companies and energy thought leaders.

Kenney will be accompanied by three staff. Savage will travel with one staff and three government officials from Alberta Energy.

The province said the pair is looking to develop, renew and strengthen Alberta’s relations with international stakeholders, gather market intelligence and aim to improve access to U.S. refiners at the conference in Houston, Texas, which runs until March 11.

The premier and minister will also look to draw attention to Alberta’s environmental record, energy sector innovation, clean technology developments and efforts to reduce emissions.

“This conference provides another opportunity to promote Alberta’s innovative and world-leading oil and gas industry to key markets that are critical to Alberta’s recovery and growing our economy,” said Kenney in a statement. “We will be meeting with decision-makers to secure access to markets for Alberta energy, ensure our producers have access to refineries and attract job-creating investment to our province.”
