Plan Group named St. Paul’s contractor

Plan Group Inc. has been named as the electrical and technology contractor for the new St. Paul’s Hospital project located in Vancouver’s False Creek Flats area. The new facility is nearly double the size of the existing St. Paul’s Hospital and construction is scheduled to begin in the summer and replaces the existing 125-year-old facility.

Chandos awarded construction management for NAIT O-Building project

Chandos Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇåion will take on construction management services for the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology’s O-Building mechanical systems upgrade project. The funding is part of a $98 million initiative by the Alberta government to fund capital maintenance at colleges, universities and polytechnical institutions.

Ritchie Bros. hosts forums Monday

Ritchie Bros. has announced it will hold two online panel discussions March 8 covering topics targeted to the construction and transportation industries. The agenda includes presentations on last mile transport and residential real estate, supply and demand metrics and potential impacts of the new U.S. administration.

U.S. construction jobs fell in February

U.S. construction employment declined by 61,000 in February, while the sector’s unemployment rate rose to 9.6 per cent amid severe winter weather and continuing weakness in new nonresidential projects, according to analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America of government data released this morning. Employment totaled 7,340,000, a decrease of 308,000 or 4.0 per cent from the most recent peak in February 2020.
