TORONTO – Massive and expedited stadium renovations and a unique crane climbing solution as part of the CIBC Square project were among this year’s Toronto Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇåion Association (TCA) Best of the Best Awards.
The awards event coincides with TCA’s 157th Annual General Meeting as a celebration of excellence within the construction industry, spotlighting outstanding achievements across various categories.Â

Here are this year’s recipients:
- Presented to a person or organization that has benefited the construction industry through demonstrated leadership skills and major contributions to industry progress and development this year’s Donald P. Giffin Sr. Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇåion Industry Achievement Award was presented to Albert Salvatore of Sprint Mechanical Inc.

- The Project Achievement Award, given to those who raise the bar in terms of professional excellence, unique teamwork, dedication, innovation and leadership, in the large category was presented PCL Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇåors Canada Inc. for phase two of the Rogers Centre Renovation. The second phase of renovations, which broke ground in October 2023, was led by PCL Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇåion. It overhauled the 100 level infield from foul pole to foul pole by demolishing and excavating the original bowl and redesigning and rebuilding a new 100 level seating bowl.Â
- SKYGRiD Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇåion Inc. also took a project achievement award in the large category for its work on the LIUNA Local 183 headquarters project. The building, located in Vaughan, consists of a six-storey tower connected to a three-storey wing that sits on an assembly hall.
- In the medium category, Gillam Group won for the St. Hilda’s towers revitalization project. The build included a major modernization effort aimed at upgrading two residential towers in the city of Toronto.Â
- PCL Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇåors Canada Inc. also took home the award in the small category for work on the Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital inpatient mental health unit (C3 South).
- The distinguished volunteer award was given to Tania Skapura of Bothwell-Accurate Co. Inc.

- Julia Evangelista of Govan Brown & Associates Limited was awarded the Sean P. McKenna YCL Leaders Award.
- Gillam Group was recognized for its outstanding safety culture.
- The Green Building Culture Award went to Pomerleau Inc.
- The Innovation Award when to EllisDon for its unique crane climbing solution that’s being used at 141 Bay, which is part of the CIBC Square development.
- RES Group of Companies too home the Trade Contractor award.
- The Community Leader Award was given to Mohammed Al-Salem from EllisDon.
- The Chancellor’s Award went to Derek Smith of Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇåionlab Ltd.
- Alberta Salvatore of Sprint Mechanical Inc. and Michael Whitely of EllisDon were named to the Director’s Honour Roll.
