RCCAO applauds provincial-federal immigration agreement

RCCAO applauds provincial-federal immigration agreement

VAUGHAN, ONT. – The new provincial-federal immigration agreement acts on the Residential and Civil 麻豆传媒高清ion Association鈥檚 (RCCAO) advocacy, laying the groundwork to increase the capacity of Ontario鈥檚 skilled trades and construction industry.

Over the last few years, the RCCAO has led advocacy efforts with industry partners such as LIUNA Local 183, as well as contractors, builders and subtrades in an effort to increase the number of people with skilled trades and construction experience being welcomed to immigrate to Ontario.

Doubling the number of economic immigrants in Ontario to over 18,000 in 2025 is an important complement to the training and recruitment efforts already underway, the statement reads.

The move will help alleviate the labour shortage, increase the industry鈥檚 capacity to build faster and get infrastructure and housing projects built.

RCCAO plans to continue to work with the governments of Ontario and Canada to optimize the application process.

鈥淭his multi-year agreement provides a predictable pathway for industry to be able to plan and scale activity to build the future of Ontario,鈥 said RCCAO executive director Nadia Todorova in a statement.
