TORONTO — Toronto’s has announced plans for a new 400,000-square-foot integrated-voltaic manufacturing facility in the U.S. with a production capacity of 2.5 gigawatts.
With design and engineering complete, Mitrex will break ground in Q1 of 2023, stated a release.
Mitrex is a developer and manufacturer of solar materials consisting of both standard and coloured PV modules as well as integrated PV materials such as solar facades, railings and windows. The new facility will add approximately 500 megawatts to Mitrex’s BIPV products and two gigawatts to standard PV modules such as Mitrex’s 390-watt-405-watt solar panels and coloured solar panels, including its solar roof products.
Mitrex has invested $US250 million in the facility’s construction, the location of which Mitrex did not release.
“Although government incentives and public investment are important in accelerating the adoption of green technology, we believe it is the responsibility of manufacturers and private investors to commercialize the production of green products. This ultimately creates an economically sustainable environment for functionally sustainable products,” said Mitrex CEO Danial Hadizadeh in a statement.
