CAW architects grows leadership to become majority women-led practice

PALO ALTO, CALIF. – California architecture firm CAW Architects has announced it has added five new partners and in doing so has furthered its status as a majority women-led practice.

The firm’s portfolio includes an emphasis on educational facilities including elementary, secondary and university campus work, as well as a significant theater and museum portfolio, including the recently completed Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo and Frost Amphitheater on Stanford campus, a CAW Architects release said.

“CAW is a dynamic firm built on a strong foundation of equity and passion for what we do. We know firsthand through years of practice that the right leadership team can make a profound difference on not just the quality of our work, but also the sense of excitement and inspiration found within our culture,” CAW founding partner Chris Wasney said in a statement.

“What sets our firm apart is that we fundamentally believe in creating a practice where everyone on the team can thrive,” CAW president Brent McClure added.

The five new partners are:

  • Mousam Adcock – Adcock has more than 19 years of experience and specializes in higher education work for both private and public entities and commercial design.
  • Monique Wood – With more than 28 years of experience, Wood has led numerous new construction, remodels and modernization projects for a variety of institutional and educational clients.
  • Kaori Abiko – Abiko has guided many of the firm’s technically challenging and diverse projects for universities, K-12 school districts and technology companies.
  • Matt Dohrmann – Dohrmann has more than 25 years of architectural experience and has worked in a range of sectors, with a recent focus on public school design and construction.

Katie Gutierrez – Gutierrez has degrees in photography and graphic design and documents the firm’s work from a perspective that often influences key marketing decisions.
