PARK CITY, UTAH — Big-D Signature has completed construction of the Sugarloaf Patrol Building, the highest-elevation project in the company’s history.
Situated at 10,550 feet at Alta Ski Resort, the 600-square-foot, two-storey ski patrol hut provides Alta’s ski patrol team with a critical vantage point over the Sugar Bowl area, states a release.
Not surprising, the project posed some unique challenges, including navigating steep and rugged terrain, fluctuating mountain weather and a tight construction timeline. The high-altitude environment also required adaptability, as thin air made even simple tasks more demanding.
“Mountain projects like this don’t just require skill; they demand adaptability and teamwork,” said Grant Gagon, project superintendent at Big-D Signature, in a statement.
The Sugarloaf Patrol Building was completed in two-and-a-half months.
