TORONTO — Live Nation Canada has announced the launch of a new live music venue in Toronto in collaboration with Toronto rap superstar Drake.
The venue will be called History and it’s slated to open later this year. The facility will have a capacity of 2,500 and Live Nation said it will host 200 concerts and events annually.
“Some of my most memorable shows were playing smaller rooms like History,” said Drake in a June 8 release. “I wanted to take those memories and what I learned to create an incredible experience for both the artists and the fans.”
History has been in development for three years, with construction scheduled to be complete later this summer. The venue is situated in the Beaches neighbourhood at 1663 Queen St. E.
The concert hall will include a convertible general admission area and reserved seating configurations depending on the event.
“We saw an opportunity to bring Toronto a great new venue, and we have so much gratitude and respect for Drake teaming up with us to bring it to life in the best way possible,” said Live Nation Entertainment president and CEO Michael Rapino.
